The Egyptians used agate in amulets, while the Minoans of Crete, the Mycenaeans of mainland Greece, and the Romans used it in jewelry.

In the Middle East, this stone was used as an ornament for daggers and sword scabbards. They also used agate medicinally, believing it had the ability to stop bleeding from wounds and cure mental disorders and delusions.

In the Middle Ages, agates were used a lot as talismans to bring luck to their wearer, it was a stone that had a lot of value at that time.

Today, it is used in particular in lithotherapy, in the form of bracelets and polished stones .
