Pyrite recharges in sunlight .

To recharge it, you can leave your stone for 2 to 3 hours in a bright room .

History & traditions

The name pyrite is said to have been used for the first time in the year 50, by Pedanius Dioscorides. She was noticed thanks to the sparks she produced when shocked. The term Pyrite derives from the Greek pyrítēs ( lithos ), fire stone.

Pyrite was used as early as the Upper Paleolithic to produce fire by percussion, which causes a combustion reaction between the iron and the sulfur it contains.

Like chalcopyrite, it was called "fool's gold" during the gold rushes of the 19th century because miners confused it with gold, because of its color.

Since pyrite was not distinguished from its polymorph marcasite (or marcasite) - same chemical composition but different crystalline system - until 1814, it is impossible to distinguish the uses of the two stones before this date.

Pyrite beads have been found in Egypt and Iran in homes and tombs.

The Greeks and Romans used pyrite to make amulets and jewelry.

Pyrite also appears in the Pharmacopoeia of Shennong, AD 100-180, as a mineral remedy in China.

The Incas used it to make decorative mosaics, jewelry and polished plates which they used as a mirror. Pyrite was also used for funeral and religious ceremonies. Native Americans used it to make amulets.

In the Hindu tradition, pyrite is the golden reed of Vishvakarma , the architect of the Universe.

In French folklore, we celebrate the wedding of iron, the main component of pyrite , after 41 years of marriage.

Lithotherapy is an alternative energy therapy, the indications given do not in any way constitute medical advice, they are taken from cultures and reference works in the field. For any medical problem we invite you to consult your doctor. Never stop treatment without medical advice.
